The aim of this paper is to critically examine the validity of the Solutrean Hypothesis using an optimal foraging lens. While much of the evidence cited by the hypothesis' originators revolves around the lithic similarities between Clovis and Solutrean tool assemblages, I argue that the most important aspect of the hypothesis is the feasibility of crossing the North Atlantic ice-bridge that supposedly connected Europe and North America. Conditions on this bridge would have to have been extremely favourable in order to entice certain groups of Solutreans to move northward during the LGM rather than southward as their neighbours did.

This thesis is intended to be a survey of three major Montréal museums each in possession of considerable collections of Indigenous material culture – the McCord Museum, the Redpath Museum, and the Pointe-à Callière Museum – with special emphasis on the first of these three. My goal is to evaluate the degrees and natures of Indigenous consultation,
representation, and collaboration at work in each museum. Each of the three institutions houses Indigenous material procured from colonial contexts, and as such, it is the responsibility of each to initiate decolonization measures. 
I have chosen the McCord as my case study because, as I will be arguing, of the three museums, I think it has taken the most comprehensive steps towards decolonization. Through the hiring of Indigenous experts and collaboration with Indigenous communities and scholars on a meaningful scale, the McCord has demonstrated a real commitment to the project of decolonization. Compared to the “cabinet of curiosity” and nationalist attitudes on display at the Redpath and Pointe-à-Callière museums, the McCord emerges as the museum in Montréal with a colonial-era collection most demonstrably committed to decolonization and collaboration.

Pour favoriser les rencontres avec le gibier, les chasseurs wampis jeûnent et énoncent des chants magiques anen. La performativité de ces chants repose sur la capacité du chasseur à réaliser un travail affectif sur lui-même : selon les Wampis, si le chanteur fait l’expérience sensible de la relation avec l’allocutaire décrite dans l’incantation, alors ce dernier l’éprouvera également. Le chasseur s’applique ainsi à « penser bien », shir anentaimat, la scène décrite dans le texte des anen. L’objectif de ces deux pratiques est de parvenir à manipuler les pensées et les émotions de l’animal de telle sorte qu’il agisse en faveur de la réussite cynégétique. Pour être efficace, le chant est subvocalisé car l’intention manipulatrice doit rester cachée. À travers une analyse pragmatique et sémantique de ces chants, cet article met en lumière les dispositifs rituels et linguistiques qui aident le chasseur à établir la relation désirée avec la proie.
